Pastor's Corner
The story of the prodigal son is an interesting commentary on our society in the way we understand our own broken roads that we have followed. In essence, we have told our Father that we wanted to leave home. Our desire to go away and strike out on our own betrays his goodness. We have taken his blessings and squandered every penny of grace we had been given by our Father, and continue to live in this distant land separated from God.
The Shrimp Jambalaya Dinner to benefit “The Open Table Ministry.” In support of the 15-501 homeless community we are invited to a dinner Saturday, March 20th at 5:00 – 7:30 pm at Resurrection United Methodist Church. Plates will be sold at the door for $7.50 per plate. A children’s plate of chicken nuggets is available for $3.50.
Durham Crop Walk - Mark your calendar Sunday, March 21 is the date! 2:00 pm. is the time! The Duke Campus is the place! What is the event? The 36th annual Durham CROP Hunger Walk. To donate or join a team online go to durhamcroppwalk.org.
Haiti Health Kits - We are still in need of the following items to complete the additional 90 partial kits we have. We need: Nail clippers and Hand towels.
Weekly Activities
Youth Potato Bar - The Youth will host their Annual Potato Bar after Worship on Mar. 14th. The money raised will go toward their mission trip to Salkehatchie this summer. Please come and support our Youth Ministry.
Butter Bread - Easter Fundraiser - Back by popular demand. The Preschool will we be serving Butter Braid pastries between Sunday school and worship on Sunday, March 7th. We will be taking orders and payments for the pastry on the 7th. The pastry is $12 per item. If you won’t be at church on the 7th but want to order pastries, there is an order form on the bulletin board outside the preschool office. We’ll contact you for payment. We will be taking orders until March 18th and expect delivery of the pastries the week of March 22nd. Just in time for Easter!
Preschool Garage Sale - Do you have things lurking in your attic that you would like to give away? Is there a corner in your garage overflowing with un-needed stuff? Please give it to the preschool! We are holding a garage sale on Saturday, April 24th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the sanctuary. Your item donations are welcome! Don’t have anything to donate? Drop by the garage sale and see if we have something you need!
