IHN Durham Interfaith Hospitality Networkaddresses the needs of homeless families by mobilizing churches, synagogues, and people of faith to help families move toward residential stability. Open Table Ministry
The Open Table Ministry is a cooperative project between the Duke Divinity School and six local churches, which takes a hot meal and a prayer every Wednesday to the homeless along N.C. 15-501 in Durham. CARVE
CARVE (Cereal, Applesauce, Rice, Vegetables, Everything). Each Sunday non-perishable food items are collected and offered up during the worship service and then delivered to Durham Urban Ministries. Resurrection Housing Outreach Ministry (RHOM)
This ministry seeks to address the needs of those who need home improvements in our area. Work teams meet one Saturday every month to work on building projects. CROP Walk
CROP is a development and relief ministry of Church World Service. We participate every spring in the Durham CROP Walk, a 5k community walk to raise funds. Alternative Christmas Market
The Alternative Christmas Market celebrates Christ's birthday by allowing participants to purchase handcrafts and make donations in honor or memory of others to various local, regional, and international ministries including Heifer Project International, the Forest Foundation, and other ministries. Alternative Christmas is held annually on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Share Your Christmas
Share Your Christmas provides Christmas gifts for families here in Durham who are referred by the Department of Social Services. ZOE Ministry- For the fall of 2012, RUMC is beginning a partnership with ZOE Ministry, a United Methodist ministry which seeks to empower orphaned children in Africa to move from poverty to self-sufficiency. Through this partnership, RUMC will "adopt" a group of orphans and provide financial support for 3 years as they move through the process of becoming a self-supporting community. Resurrection provides financial support and material to the United Methodist hospital serving thousands of rural residents of Northeastern Liberia and parts of Guinea and Ivory Coast. Hand-in-Hand
Hand-in-Hand is a partnership between Resurrection UMC and Githens Middle School, which provides support for the faculty and students. Activities include everything from a back-to-school breakfast for the staff, proctoring end of grade exams, annual work days, and hosting Githen’s Annual Christmas and Spring choral concerts. Society of St. Andrew
The Society of St. Andrewsponsors a gleaning program. Resurrection volunteers harvest leftover crops from area farms one Saturday every month in season. The gleaned crops supply local food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, and low-income communities with fresh fruit and vegetables. Durham Congregations in Action (DCIA)
